Homecoming 2018: A New Take on Tradition

Depending on where you attend college and the culture of the university, homecoming is either the time to showcase the best that your closet has to offer, or the the season of flannels and baseball caps. Thankfully, my school falls somewhere in the middle, and with this being my last year as a college student, I wanted to go all out and wear something that was elegant and distinguishable.

I built this look from the ground up with a pair of pants that I already had in my closet from Berksha. The dramatic flare at the bottom gives me my daily dose of extra and the fact that they are all black keeps the look smooth and sleek. The blazer I’m wearing isn’t by the brand pictured above, but it follows the same design and when paired with this pants it just… works! My inspiration for this look was classic Grace Jones in combination with a little bit of Prince in his prime.

As far as accessories go, less was most definitely more. My glasses, clear clutch, and head scarf were all ordered from amazon. For me the headscarf served as a way to emphasize my facial features and intensified the color scheme. Wearing head to toe black is a way of saying everything you need to without saying anything at all. My boots are from ASOS and definitely were my first choice when determining what shoes I should wear. I can confidently say I was beyond happy with the way the look turned out, what do you all think?
